Tom Hardy: Living The Dream

You probably never heard of Tom Hardy before, that is until after his breakthrough role in this year's Inception. Born Edward Thomas Hardy in Hammersmith, London, son to an artist and comedy writer, the actor was born into talent at a young age. He attended Richmond Drama School in London, and started his career landing roles in war dramas. Hardy entered the Hollywood scene in the year 2001, nabbing roles in big productions such as Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down and Steven Spielberg's, Band Of Brothersseries (alongside another up and coming actor Michael Fassbender). Since then, the 32 year old actor hasn't stopped, picking up role after role in some good films. He appeared in 2002's Star Trek: Nemesis (gaining heavy international exposure), and then graduated to bigger roles such as Clarkie in Matthew Vaughn's Layer Cake, and of course Handsome Bob in RocknRolla. The actor then received praise for his work portraying prisoner Charles Bronson and his 34 year captivity in a British prison, in Nicolas Winding Refn's drama entitled, Bronson. From there the actor finally got the recognition he deserved, and landed the role of a lifetime in Nolan's Sci-Fi thriller,Inception. Following in the footsteps of such actors like Gerard Butler (300), Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds), and even fellow co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days Of Summer), Hardy is slowly climbing his way up to star status in Hollywood. The actor is tied to lead roles in upcoming movies such as Warrior, Mad Max: Furry Road (2012), and was just named Sam Worthington's replacement for This Means War (2012) opposite Chris Pine (Star Trek). Although this man played The Forger in Nolan's world of dreams, the reality is the actor is literally living the dream world we all envy. For a man who battled alcoholism and crack addition in his mid-twenty's, the actor has come full circle in a big way. Look for Hardy next in Gavin O'Connor's Warrior, November 26, 2010.
